Extended Meeting of the Academic Council at Satbayev University Dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of Academician S.M. Kozhakhmetov
On September 19, 2025, in the assembly hall of Satbayev University, an extended meeting of the Academic Council was held to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the birth and the 67th anniversary of the scientific career of Honored Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, laureate of the USSR State Prize in Science and Technology, and Chief Researcher of the Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation JSC, Sultanbek Myrzakhmetovich Kozhakhmetov.
The meeting was opened by Member of the Board – Vice-Rector for Science and Corporate Development of Satbayev University, Yerzhan I. Kuldeev, who emphasized the importance of the jubilee of this outstanding scientist.
The keynote report, titled “Academician S.M. Kozhakhmetov – A Prominent Metallurgist and Organizer of Science in Kazakhstan”, was delivered by Director of the Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation JSC, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Bagdaulet Kenzhalyuly Kenzhaliyev.
Congratulatory speeches and warm words were addressed to the jubilarian by:
- Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhayyk Khamitovich Toktarov;
- President of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician Bakytzhan Tursynovich Zhumagulov;
- Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Abai Serikkanovich Serikkanov;
- Chairman of the Board of LLP Kazakhmys Corporation, Nurakhmet Kanatovich Nuriev;
- Rector of “Turan” University, Academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Rakhman Alshanovich Alshanov;
- Deputy Head of the Department of Youth Policy of the Almaty City Akimat, Almaz Abaiuly Kenesbai;
- First Deputy General Director of the RSE National Center for Complex Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dosmurat Kyzylbievich Aitkulov.
In conclusion, Member of the Board – Vice-Rector for Science and Corporate Development of Satbayev University, Yerzhan I. Kuldeev, thanked the participants for their attention to this significant event and emphasized that Academician Kozhakhmetov is “not only a great scientist, but also a living legend, whose contribution to the development of metallurgy and science in Kazakhstan remains relevant and inspiring to this day.”
