The General Director of JSC “Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation” (JSC “IMOB”) Bagdaulet Kenzhaliyev traveled from Almaty to Incheon, South Korea, to participate in key events and negotiations. During the trip, he conducted several important meetings and signed strategic agreements.
On August 26, Bagdaulet Kenzhaliyev visited the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) and met with leading specialists from the institute, including:
- Director of Korea National Institute of Rare Metals (KORAM), KITECH Dr. KYOUNG TAE PARK
- Head of Rare Metal R&D office(KORAM), KITECH, Dr. JUNHEE HAN
- KMTC (Korea Mold Technology Center): Senior Researcher, Dr. KI BEOM KIM
- KAMIC (KITECH Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center): Senior Researcher, Dr. DURIM EO
- Vice-rector for international relationships of Satbayev University Samgat ERMEKBAYEV
- Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Intellectual Properties of JSC “IMOB” Gulzhaina KASSYMOVA
During the visit, the possibilities for cooperation and technical interaction between KITECH and JSC “IMOB” were discussed. The General Director also toured the laboratories and research centres at KORAM.
On August 27, crucial negotiations regarding the establishment of a scientific center took place in South Korea. The discussions were attended by six high-profile representatives:
- Dr. Sang Mok Lee, President of KITECH
- Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan
- Nurgali Aristanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to South Korea
- Meyram Begentaev, Rector of Satbayev University
- Bagdaulet Kenzhaliyev, General Director of JSC “IMOB”
- Dr. Kyoung Tae Park, Director of the Korean National Institute of Rare Metals (KORAM)
The negotiations focused on the details of creating a scientific center, which will be a significant step in strengthening scientific and technological cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Korea.
Following the negotiations, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between JSC “IMOB” and KITECH. The memorandum was signed on the Kazakhstan side by Professor Bagdaulet Kenzhaliyev, General Director of JSC “IMOB”, and on the Korean side by Dr. Sang Mok Lee, President of KITECH. The document covers joint research and experience exchange in the fields of science and technology, establishing a solid foundation for future cooperation and scientific achievements.
On the same day, Bagdaulet Kenzhaliyev met with Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting discussed the project for establishing a scientific center at JSC “IMOB”, aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Kazakhstan’s rare metals industry.
On August 28, the Kazakhstan delegation, which included Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nurgali Aristanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to South Korea, Meyram Begentaev, Rector of Satbayev University, Bagdaulet Kenzhaliyev, General Director of JSC “IMOB”, Ministry of Science and Higher Education Department Head Rauza Mendalieva, Vice-Rector Samgat Ermekbaev, JSC “IMOB” Department Head Gulzhaina Kassymova, Third Secretary of the Kazakhstan Embassy Maksat Kantarbayev, Embassy Attache Bauyrzhan Dautoev, and a reporter from Khabar 24 TV channel, participated in the opening ceremony of the Global Summit on Education and Innovation at The Shilla Seoul. The summit focused on key outcomes and trends in education and innovation, as well as a speech by Minister Sayasat Nurbek.
On August 29, the delegation visited Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, where they discussed partnership prospects and joint projects. The university is interested in expanding scientific cooperation and developing new technologies.
The business trip concluded on August 30. General Director Bagdaulet Kenzhaliyev returned to Almaty, where he will continue implementing the agreements reached. As a result of the trip, significant agreements were made to establish a new scientific centre in Kazakhstan. The planned opening of the Center for High-Temperature and High-Activity Materials based on rare metals is expected to significantly enhance the competitiveness of Kazakhstan’s industry.
