The Al-Farabi State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Recognition of Outstanding Achievements in Science and Technology
The 2025 Al-Farabi State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of Science and Technology, the highest form of recognition for the contributions of scientists and engineers to society and the state, has been awarded for the research project titled:
“Development of an Environmentally Safe Vacuum-Thermal Technology and Organization of Industrial Production of High-Grade Selenium from Substandard Non-Ferrous Metallurgy Raw Materials.”

The developed technology has enabled Kazakhstan to establish its own industrial production of high-grade selenium that meets international quality standards. This achievement is not merely a technological breakthrough — it represents a new step toward building a sustainable and environmentally responsible metallurgical industry grounded in science, innovation, and the careful use of natural resources.
The Al-Farabi State Prize is a high honor and a recognition of the scientific team’s significant contribution to strengthening the industrial and scientific-technical potential of the country. The project is the result of close collaboration between JSC “Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation” and LLP “Kazakhmys Corporation”, which combined their scientific expertise and industrial experience to implement advanced solutions aimed at developing domestic science, technology, and production.
