International Conference Dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation
On December 18–19, 2025, Satbayev University hosted the international scientific and practical conference “Challenges of Science”. This large-scale academic event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation and focused on discussing advanced scientific research and innovative technologies in the production and processing of rare and rare earth metals.
At the opening ceremony, the Rector of Satbayev University, Meiram Begentayev, congratulated the staff of the Institute and emphasized its significant historical role in the development of national science.
“The 80th anniversary of the Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation is an important milestone for national science. I sincerely congratulate the Institute’s staff on this remarkable anniversary,” said Rector M. Begentayev.
Assessing the current mission and future prospects of the Institute, the General Director of JSC “Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation,” Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor B.K. Kenzhaliyev, noted:
“The 80-year history of the Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation is a vivid testament to the resilience and intellectual potential of national science. The Institute’s achievements make a significant contribution to the industrial and technological development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.”
Today, the Institute is one of the country’s leading research centers in the field of integrated processing of rare and rare earth metals, the development of new functional alloys and materials, and the creation of high-tech metallurgical processes. The growing global demand for these strategically important metals further increases the relevance of such research.
Summing up, Professor B. Kenzhaliyev emphasized that the 80-year history of the Institute represents a strong example of dedication to science, perseverance, and innovation. The Institute’s researchers will continue to conduct studies aimed at strengthening the interaction between science and industry and contributing to the industrial and innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The conference brought together scientists from research organizations and universities of South Korea, Egypt, Jordan, Nigeria, Indonesia, China, Russia, as well as the Republic of Kazakhstan. A total of 28 presentations on topical scientific issues were delivered during the conference.
