President Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev, who is on a working trip to Almaty, on May 31, 2024, inspected the renovated building of the National Academy of Sciences \u201cGylym Ordasy\u201d and held a meeting with the scientific community. In his speech, the President said that a country that relies only on raw materials has no future. According to the Head of State, we need scientists, engineers, and inventors. The President dwelled on the measures taken in the country to develop science and higher education. In particular, the number of grants for training qualified personnel has increased by one and a half times in recent years. There are branches of 12 prestigious universities of the world in Kazakhstan. Several more will open soon. More and more universities are engaged in scientific research. Technology parks and engineering centers are opening. Every year, 500 scientists undergo internships abroad. The ministry provides thousands of grants to young scientists. All these measures are designed to have a positive impact on the development of science. According to the Head of State, in the context of the global scientific and technological revolution, the role of scientists and intellectuals is significantly increasing. However, even the richest countries cannot afford to conduct high-level research in all areas. Therefore, to achieve success, it is necessary to determine priority areas and concentrate the efforts of the scientific community, government and business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Further, Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev elaborated on the situation in such areas as digitalization, energy, including nuclear, petrochemistry, geological exploration, mechanical engineering, medicine, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, agriculture, road transport infrastructure, water resources management, forecasting and warning emergency situations of natural and man-made nature. In conclusion, the President said that in the next two years the number of grants for research by young scientists will be increased again. It is planned to allocate 18 billion tenge from the budget for these purposes. He also noted that new efforts will be made in the country aimed at supporting science and the scientific community. At the end of the event, Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev emphasized that social support for young scientists is the task of the state, and solemnly presented housing certificates to 10 young scientists.
