Laboratory of Material Science
Main achievements:
New materials for various purposes, methods for their production and processing have been developed, including: composite alumomatrix materials; refractory and ceramic materials for various purposes; proppants based on Kazakhstani raw materials. A set of laboratory research and technological equipment has been developed, surpassing analogues in a number of parameters:
- a vacuum arc furnace for melt-down melting and casting of titanium alloys;
- installations for the production of cast aluminum-matrix composite materials under various conditions and volumes;
- installations for the production of cast aluminum-matrix composite materials under various conditions and volumes;
- installation for the determination of the hydrogen permeability of flat membranes;
- CNC machine for contact welding of hydrogen permeable membranes;
- installation for determining the contact angle of the wetting of the substrate surface by metallic melts under vacuum conditions;
- methods and equipment for depositing biocompatible layers on the surface of endoprostheses made from titanium alloys;
- modular membrane plant for producing high-purity hydrogen on the basis of hydrogen-permeable membranes based on niobium and tantalum.
Basic directions of researches:
- Development of technology, equipment and materials for low-tonnage induction and vacuum-arc melting and casting of titanium alloys;
- Development of technologies for obtaining biocompatible calcium-phosphate coatings and individually developed titanium endoprostheses with increased osseointegration;
- Development of new cast aluminum-matrix composites, technologies, and equipment for their production
- Development of composite hydrogen permeable membranes based on tantalum, niobium and their alloys
- Development of technology for producing ceramic proppants based on natural and technogenic aluminosilicate and magnesian-silicate materials for the oil and gas industry;
- Development of technology for producing ceramic filter elements for cleaning industrial gases, ceramic filters; refractories for the metallurgical industry; building ceramics.
Scientific and technical developments proposed for implementation:
- Technology of pressing of products from high-strength aluminum alloy B96 and V96ts in conditions of superplastic flow;
- Technology for producing cast aluminum matrix composite materials discretely reinforced with carbide titanium;
- Manufacturing technology of yttrium oxide crucibles;
- Technology of applying biocompatible coatings on the surface of endoprostheses made of titanium alloys
- Technology for producing ceramic proppants based on aluminosilicate raw materials;
- Technology for forsterite refractory materials.
Services offered:
- testing of materials for break according to GOST 1497-84;
- testing of materials for rupture at elevated temperatures in accordance with GOST 9651-84;
- testing of materials for compression according to GOST 25 503-97;
- testing materials for bending in accordance with GOST 14019-2003;
- measurement of hardness on the Rockwell scale, Vickers and Brinell scale;
- determination of closed and open porosity;
- metallographic analysis;
- testing materials for friction and wear;
- determination of the hydrogen permeability of flat membranes.
