70th anniversary of Nesipbay Kuandykovich Tusupbayev
May 2021 marks the 70th anniversary of the birth of Nesipbay Kuandykovich Tusupbayev, Head of the Laboratory of Flotation Reagents and Beneficiation of the Institute of Metallurgy and Beneficiation.
N. K. Tusupbayev is one of the best representatives of Russian science. For more than 45 years, he has been engaged in research and development in the field of chemical technologies and mineral processing, has a high professional erudition and organizational skills.
In 1975, he graduated from the Chemical Faculty of the S. M. Kirov Kazakh State University (now Al-Farabi Kazakh National University) with a degree in Colloidal Chemistry.
In 1984, at the Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology named after M. V. Lomonosov, he defended his PhD thesis on “Stability of hydrodispersions in the presence of synthetic polyelectrolytes and ionic surfactants” in the specialty 02.00.11 Colloidal and membrane chemistry.
He was actively engaged in the Olympiad training of schoolchildren for a number of years (from 1980 to 2002) in chemistry, including international level, lectured to students of the Institute for Advanced Training of Teachers for 20 years. For achievements in the field of teaching in 1993, N. K. Tusupbayev was awarded the badge “Excellent Participant of Public Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.
Since 2004, N. K. Tusupbayev has been working as the head of the Laboratory for the synthesis of Flotation Reagents at the Institute of Metallurgy and Beneficiation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Currently, he heads the laboratory of flotation reagents and beneficiation of the Institute.
Tusupbayev N. K., having a wide range of knowledge, deep erudition in the field of physical and colloidal chemistry, petrol chemistry, chemical technology and flotation beneficiation of minerals, developed new research areas of the laboratory of flotation reagents and Beneficiation.
Currently, under the leadership of N. K. Tusupbaev, the search for selective reagents is being carried out on the basis of deep theoretical studies of the mechanisms of their interaction with minerals.
The technology of selective separation of collective copper-lead concentrate with the use of iron-containing material has been developed.
The use of the developed new nanoscale activator ofsphalerite-copper oxyhydroxideduring the zinc flotation of the ore of the Artemyevsky deposit provided an increase in the zinc content in the zinc concentrate by 10-12 %.
The design of the flotation agent molecule, which has both foaming and collecting properties, has been developed, which allows to increase the extraction of copper into the collective copper-lead concentrate by 5 %, and the extraction of lead by 9 %.
The use of new synthesized Aeroflots in the processing of gold-bearing ores of Tishinsky provided an increase in gold recovery by 3-5 % and an improvement in the quality of gold-containing concentrates, while reducing the consumption of the foamer by 50 %.
He developed and tested the following scientific developments on a pilot scale:
– technology of thickening and filtration of enrichment products at the Kentau processing plant (Shalkiya-zink LLP);
– technology of oxidation of divalent iron using a paramagnetic catalyst for the intensification of underground leaching of uranium ores (Semizbay-U LLP);
– technology of flotation enrichment of difficult-to-enrich polymetallic and gold-containing ores by using a water-air microemulsion generator (WAMEG), which allows for more complete extraction of fine-dispersed sludge valuable minerals. The developed WAMEG can be easily placed in any flotation line of the column, mechanical or pneumomechanical type without significant capital expenditures.
In 2010, N. K. Tusupbayev successfully got his doctoral dissertation “Physico-chemical bases for the creation and application of new reagents for the intensification of flotation of sulfide polymetallic ores”.
Under his heading, 5 PhD theses were peppered in the specialty 02.00.11-Colloidal chemistry and physico-chemical mechanics and 5 PhD theses in the specialty 25.00.13-Mineral processing.
Tusupbaev N. K. published more than 300 scientific papers, including articles
in rating foreign journals, 3 monographs, 1 textbook, 6 supporting textbooks, 8 methodological developments, 1 copyright certificate of the USSR, 25 patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
N. K. Tusupbayev actively continues teaching at the KazNTU named after K. I. Satpayev in the specialty “Mineral processing”. He is the head of several PhD now.
TusupbayevNesipbayKuandykovich for active research work and training of highly qualified personnel was awarded honorary certificates of JSC NNTH “Parasat” and the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2013, he was awarded the State Scientific Award for Scientists and Specialists who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of science and technology. In 2014, he was awarded the badge “For merit to the development of Science in the Republic of Kazakhstan”.
High scientific qualifications, deep erudition, intelligence, responsibility and patriotism, attention and care for the training of young scientific personnel earned TusupbayevNesipbayKuandykovich great authority and respect of the scientific community of the republic and abroad.
